Dining: The senses are further stimulated in an evening dining out in opulent banquet rooms, on a terrace under starry skies or in hip, intimate eateries. Sample the latest wines, swirling, sniffing and sipping an Opus One before celebrating life by partaking in a multi-course meal at any one of the island's five-star restaurants.
Shopping : Aruba isn't actually a duty free port, however the duty is low enough that it's possible to find some excellent buys here, especially on items such as jewelry, perfume, fashions and electronic equipment.
Activities : Standing at the railing of the fishing boat, the high seas and salt spray go unnoticed as all attention is focused on keeping a firm grasp on your fishing pole. At the other end of the fishing line, a 70-pound billfish fights to free itself and return to the deep seas around Aruba which it calls home. In the temperate Caribbean waters of Aruba, a variety of Atlantic game fish can be caught year-round.
Culture and Heritage : In 2008, various commemorative events will take place, which are of significant value for the cultural development of Aruba. For this reason, the Government of Aruba proclaimed the year 2008 as the "National Year of Culture." With this act, the Government of Aruba would like to direct attention to the importance of culture as part of the general education and development of people.
Casinos : Aruba's casino scene sizzles with expectation and exhilaration as bells sound with each win and where lively crowds ring each game table. As the originator and home of Caribbean stud poker as well as the host of professional poker tournaments and everything in slots from progressive jackpots to nickel machines, Aruba welcomes both veteran gamblers and casual players in experiencing the excitement of courting chance.
Beaches : From the vantage point of the beach, visitors delight in prime views of the expanse of clear, turquoise waters stretching out and deepening to an azure blue at the horizon. The soothing sounds of the water's ebb and flow, the brilliance of an ever-present sun and the caress of a soft wind slowly lulls sunbathers while swimmers relish the refreshing splash of the waves. Aruba's beaches, considered among the best in the world, are marked by white sands and cyrstal clear waters.
Airport : For current flight schedules and status information, please contact the airline directly. Phone numbers and links to airline web pages are provided for your use. Information contained here is provided by the airlines and others and is passed on by the Aruba Airport Authority as a service to the travelling public. All telephone numbers are local calls on Aruba unless stated otherwise. The Authority is not responsible for any errors or omissions. This information is subject to change without notice.
Transportation : Rental cars and Jeeps:If you are adventurous and want to explore all Aruba has to offer, it's a good idea to rent a four wheel drive Jeep or Samurai. There are great sites to see but the roads to get there are often rugged and not suitable for a car. Make sure that your spare tire is full of air before heading out into the rough rugged terrain. Many 4-wheel drive rentals often have no roof, so make sure you put on sun block because the sun shines brightly in Aruba! 4-wheel drive vehicles are numerous but they are often hard to get because they are used for "Jeep Safari" tours that are popular sightseeing day trips.
Banking Laws and Information: Aruba Bank offers commercial and retail banking services. Also offers offshore banking services. The bank has international ties with prominent financial institutions, ensuring complete and global services to its customers.
Golfing : The greens are Astroturf, and goats sometimes get in the way, but this odd little golf course is a lot of fun. And the fee is only $10. Water hazards and send traps add a challenge to the nine-hole course, which can be played from different tees during 18-hole rounds. Golf carts and clubs are available at the pro shop, and restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch.
